MOUNT CARMEL – The Mother Maria Kaupas Center, which sponsors a free diaper giveaway program for income-eligible families who live in the Mount Carmel Area School District, is asking the public’s help in replenishing the program’s diaper supplies.
The Kaupas Center, a ministry of Divine Redeemer Church, conducts a monthly diaper distribution at which each family receives approximately a one-week supply of diapers per child.
Collection barrels will be placed for the month of September at the Mount Carmel Area Public Library and in the lobby of UNB Bank. The program accepts unopened packages of new diapers in all sizes for infants and toddlers.
This is the first public diaper collection held by the Center since 2019, immediately prior to the start of the program. Up to now, the program has been supported mostly by grants and targeted donations.
The next diaper giveaway for eligible families will be held Thursday, September 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Center, which is located at 412 W. Avenue, next to Divine Redeemer’s parish office.
Families who are not able to attend the diaper giveaway may contact the Center at 570-339-3450 Option 7 to make an appointment for pickup. Questions about the diaper program may be directed to Jake Betz at the same number.
